It’s said that in 490 BC — after running ca. 150 miles in two days from the Battle of Marathon to Sparta and back — Pheidippides ran a final 26 miles from Marathon to Athens then collapsed and died with the exclamation νικῶμεν (nikomen — ‘We win!”).
You see, long before distance running was about fitness and fashion and followers and whatever else, it was about a fight. Pure and simple. About pushing the limit, holding the line, winning in the weeds. About normal people doing heroic things.

- 2x -- Elastic front pouches (3" x 2.5") positioned just below the waistband on the hips. Shallow enough to not interfere with your stride. Ideal for quick-access gels, headphones or stuffing trash on the trail
- 1x -- Center back pocket that snugly fits an iPhone 16 (6.5" x 3.5"). Our latest gen design, conceived with a sketch at our kitchen counter and tested over a year, top-anchors the pocket to the waistband of the shorts so it cinches down when you tie the drawcords. The result still isn't perfect, but it's the smoothest (least noticeably annoying) phone-carrying experience we've had with a pair of non-compression shorts since we were running with 1st gen Motorola Razrs

- "Old school" bunched boxer waistband designed to maximize durability, tension distribution + swagger. (What's with all the cheap flat waistbands on running shorts these days?)
- "New school" In-N-Out eyelets, inspired by our favorite board shorts, give you the option to tie the drawcords on the inside or the outside of the shorts

Fabrics + Care

- Machine wash cold with like colors. Do not bleach or use softeners. Hang dry or tumble dry on low
- If you iron your running shorts, iron on low and consider therapy
Fit Notes
The Men's Pheidippides Shorts fit average at the waist and on the narrower side through the thighs. The drawcords make them easy to cinch down to size, so if you're between sizes we'd recommend purchasing a size up.
