It’s said that in 490 BC — after running ca. 150 miles in two days from the battlefield at Marathon to Sparta and that same distance back again — Pheidippides ran flat-out for a final 26 miles from Marathon to Athens then collapsed and died with the word νικῶμεν (nikomen — ‘We win!”).
You see, before distance running was about fitness and fashion and followers and whatever else it’s been mass-marketed into, it was about a fight. Pure and simple. About warriors, and winning, and ordinary people pushed past their limits to become heroes.
And fights are always won in the weeds. In little details. In split seconds at the line and the million unseen efforts stacked for months and years before the gun goes off.
And in that spirit, we bring you the Easyday Pheidippides Short. 4.5” inseam, brief-lined, durably welded in Canada from our pro-grade AirForce fabric and featuring OnLock pockets to hold a phone or five gels with no bounce. Tuned to the tiniest details for your heaviest training blocks and competitions of a marathon-plus. For when it's time to make running heroic again.

- We made the 4.5" Pheidippides because we wanted a distance short that could do it all, from daily duty as a high-mileage trainer to competitive racing on trails and/or distances of a marathon-plus
- For us this required (1) an insanely soft, supportive brief liner, (2) a "Goldilocks" inseam length to maximize comfort for daily training x range of motion for moving fast, (3) a better pocket system designed to carry five gels or our dang phone on a dang run when we need to without it dang bouncing all over the dang place, (4) ultra-premium fabrics that above all are lightweight and fast drying

Fabrics & Care
- 88% Recycled Polyester, 12% Lycra Elastane. 70 grams per sq. meter.
- Machine wash cold with like colors. Do not bleach or use softeners. Hang dry or tumble dry on low. If you're a person who irons running shorts, iron on low.

Dry is cool. Light is fast. AirForce fabrics are all three. In droves.
We're talking 70 grams per sq. meter of weight (44% lighter than Tracksmith's leading Session short, for quick reference) combined with No-Stink Tech, luxury hand feel, durable flatlock sewing done entirely in small family-run factories in Canada, and sustainable materials (recycled poly. & Lycra elastane). Yeah buddy.
Supportive SuperSoft Liners
Pheidippides ran all his mileage in the buff. Arguably more comfortable are the silky soft micro mesh brief liners we created for these, fitted to deliver you support while remaining supremely breathable, and featuring inverted outward-folded hemming to further reduce your Chafe Factor.
OnLock Pocket System
We spent the the last decade looking for true distance shorts that allow us to carry a phone or a bunch of nutrition without bouncing like crazy. Finally we gave up and made these.
The OnLock system we labbed up involves a center back pocket that snugly fits an iPhone 16 Pro or 4-5 gels and is cut into the waistband itself so it locks down when you sinch up, plus two elastic quick-access pouches on the front that are ultra-convenient for stuffing nutrition and trash but shallow enough to not interfere with your stride. There, was that really so hard.
Bunched Combat Waistband
Boxers are cool. Ball players are cool. Neither train or compete in shorts with bizarre flat elastic waistbands that in our (extensive) testing are susceptible to trapping sweat instead of absorbing it and overstretching after several wears.
So for the Pheidippides we've kept it classic with an "old school" bunched waistband for reliable durability, tension distribution, and swagger. If it ain't broke don't clown it.
Branded No-Slip In/Out Ties
Inspired by our favorite surf shorts, we've kitted the Pheidippides with in-and-out eyelets so you have the option to tie the wax-dipped drawcords on the inside or outside of the short depending on preference, day of the week, other people's opinions, or your Zodiac sign. Raised silicone black-on-black branding helps them stay secured.
